Established in 1980, Assets, Inc. is the 64th largest private employer is the State of Alaska, with a workforce of over 270 employees, 41.97% of whom are individuals with disabilities. Each member contributes to the local economy and plays a valued role in the community. 

Four years after Assets opened its doors, a contract was signed providing janitorial services at the Anchorage Airport. This was a pivotal moment in the history of the organization as it was the first of many service contracts established between Assets and various entities. Today, these contracts provide a variety of employment options for over 200 employees, both disabled and non-disabled, in such environments as the Anchorage Area Commissary, Providence Hospital, and the Alaska State Court House System. Employees of Assets wash every dish at Providence Hospital, stock every shelf at the commissary and clean every square inch of the Courthouse and Federal Buildings!

Our Supported Living Services began in 1984, followed by Employment Services in 1986. Supported Living Services refers to any combination of skill building, coaching and resource coordination to assist individuals to live in their own homes. Supported Employment assists individuals to obtain and retain employment within local businesses. Assets currently partners with over forty local employers in hiring the right person to ensure job satisfaction for both the employee and employer.

  • Maintain a clean and organized station while practicing safety and sanitation.
  • Properly use and maintain all equipment in the station.
  • Complete ServSafe training satisfactorily.
  • Actively participate in company meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain a proactive relationship with customers and coworkers.
  • Follow all policies set forth by Assets, Inc.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
  • Previous prep or line cook experience.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Ability to think, react calmly, and respond to emergency situations.
  • Perform under stressful situations and respond to work problems.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to heat/cold from mechanical equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Summary

In accordance with Assets, Inc. core values and mission, this position contributes to the success of the contract by preparing daily food items according to established regulatory policies and procedures.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Adheres to and demonstrates Assets, Inc. core values, mission, code of conduct, and employee expectations in the performance of all aspects of this position.
  2. Adheres to and prepare products according to the Army food Management Information system (AFMIS) Automated Recipe System.
  3. Adheres to Tasks listed in the Performance Work Statement (PWS) as directed by the Contract.
  4. Cleans and maintains station while practicing safety, sanitation and organizational skills.
  5. Has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the station.
  6. Able to satisfactorily complete ServSafe training.
  7. Actively participates in company meetings and trainings.
  8. Maintains a proactive relationship with customers and coworkers.
  9. Be familiar with and follow all policies set forth by Assets, Inc.
  10. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
